BEDFORD – The Lawrence County Commissioners held a moment of silence Tuesday morning in memory of Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Brenten Scotler Trueblood.
Deputy Trueblood, 25, was killed after crashing his motorcycle on State Road 445 west of I-69 ramp on Saturday, July 27.
Officers responded to the accident at 11:10 p.m.
According to Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Camron Frye, the driver, Brenten Trueblood, was traveling east on State Road 445 toward I-69 when he left the roadway for an unknown reason and came to a stop off the southwest portion of State Road 445 and the I-69 southbound ramp.
Trueblood was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, but despite life-saving efforts, he died from his injuries.
“Words cannot express the sorrow we feel for the tragic passing of Deputy Trueblood,” said Sheriff Greg Day in a Facebook post. “He was one of a kind, who brought an unmatched work ethic every day. You will be missed dearly, sir. You can rest easy, we will take it from here. You will never be forgotten.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police Reconstructionists are investigating the accident.
Deputy Trueblood graduated from Mitchell High School and the Southwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. He was a law enforcement officer with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and a member of FOP Lodge 172, Bedford Boat Club, and American Legion Gillen Post #33 of Bedford. He loved spending time with his daughters and family, his job, riding his motorcycle, and having fun.
He leaves behind his parents LaKindra and Jamie Harper and Brent and Elizabeth Trueblood, grandparents, his siblings, and two young daughters, Madelyn and MaKinley.
Deputy Trueblood’s funeral services will be held Thursday, August 1, at 11:00 a.m., at the First Christian Church in Bedford, with Jeff Nikirk officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 31, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the First Christian Church.
In place of flowers, donations in memory of Deputy Trueblood may be made to the Bedford Federal Savings Bank, account ending in 2940, to benefit his children.
