Increase in medical incidents this year at Boogie, Recreational Park, gearing up for XC Amateur National Championship

SPRINGVILLE – There was an increase in medical incidents at the 44th Annual “ABATE Celebrates America-themed” Boogie.

Lawrence County Emergency Management Director Valerie Lauchauer

Lawrence County Emergency Management Director Valerie Lauchauer said, “We had an unusually high number of emergency medical incidents during the ABATE Boogie. We had to fly one person out after an incident outside the Recreational Park.”

The Boogie was July 18-21 at Lawrence County Recreational Park in Springville, 99 Moore Lane.

The event will feature live music featuring national and local artists, a Hoosier Honey contest, free tattoo and arm wrestling contests, a free motorcycle rodeo, traditional field events, scenic bike rides, a free ride-in bike show, a motorcycle swap meet, free tent camping and showers, and more.

Lawrence County Recreational Park covers almost 400 acres with over 60 miles of trails for novice and experienced riders.

Officials are gearing up for the 2nd annual XC Amateur National Championship presented by the National Racing Association. This will be a very similar format to the Amateur National Championship for Motocross in Tennessee but will be in the woods and feature both ATVs and dirt bikes. All riders will have to qualify for the National. This National event is slated to occur at Lawrence County Recreational Park in Springville on August 10th-11th.

“We are looking at having between 15,000 to 20,000 people attending this event and visiting Lawrence County,” added Luchauer.

Riders must attend a Qualifier and finish in an advanced position to guarantee a spot in the National Championships. Riders may attempt to qualify for the National in as many different Qualifiers locations as they choose. Riders who qualify at the Qualifiers are invited to race at the Amateur National XC Championship. Still, you may only race in one Bike and/or ATV class at the National.
