Obituary: Ruth Christine Daggy

February 19, 1935 – July 30, 2024

Ruth Christine Daggy, 89, of Bedford, passed away at 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at White River Lodge.

Born February 19, 1935, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Cletus and Gertrude Fountain. She
attended Shawswick High School. A natural beauty, during her sophomore year, she was crowned “Miss Shawswick.” She married Lewis O. Daggy, and he preceded her in death in 1991. She was a laundry attendant at East Side Laundry in Bedford and a member of the Leatherwood Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Lyons, and husband, Jeffrey, of French Lick and Lucinda Daggy,
of Bedford; a granddaughter, Ashley Woods, and husband, Anthony, of Bedford; three grandsons,
Dustin Shoults and wife, Reagan, of Colorado Springs, CO, Nathan Daggy and wife, Frankie, of
Bedford, and Zachary Chilton, of Heltonville; a sister, Janet Pridemore, of Bedford; several nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Lisa Chilton, and three brothers, John, Tommy, and Bob Fountain.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, in Green Hill Cemetery, with Sherman Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
