WILLIAMS—The Williams Community Improvement Association Annual Fish Fry was held at the Williams Community Center on Saturday, July 27. The event raises money for community needs, and all labor and provisions are donated.
“This is the third year for the event since we’ve started it back up,” said Alan Spreen, coordinator for the fish fry. “My dad used to do the hog roast, and my aunt did a soup supper, so we basically combined it and made the fish fry.”
In the past, the money raised has been used to maintain the community center and for other events throughout the year. When asked what the proceeds will be going to this year, “Maybe a shelter house or some playground equipment, we don’t know yet,” said Spreen.
The food was incredible, and the atmosphere was light and joyful. Everyone who volunteered wore a smile all night and kept the fish coming. Once you got your fill of the fried goodies and the delicious sides, there was a table of homemade desserts to indulge in.
A packed house gave way to a steady flow of patrons ready to enjoy each other’s company and the meal. The event went smoothly, and all seemed to have a good time and were filled with delicious food. Thanks to all who volunteered, the event was a raging success, and the community is better for your efforts.
