GRANDVIEW LAKE – The body of Richard Chaille, 70, of Columbus, was located and recovered at 5 a.m. this morning by local fire department personnel.
An exact cause of death is pending autopsy results.
Law Indiana Conservation Officers began searching for Chaille after he was last seen in the water at Grandview Lake. They are using boats and side-scan sonar.
At approximately 11:14 a.m., responders were notified that a man was in the water near his boat when he went under and did not resurface. He was not wearing a life jacket.
The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, Southwest Volunteer Fire Department, Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department, Columbus Township Fire Department, and Columbus Regional Heath assisted conservation officers in the search.
