Constellation Stage & Screen announces 24/25 Film Screening Series

BLOOMINGTON—Constellation Stage & Screen is thrilled to announce the return of four interactive screening events in the 24/25 Season! This year, Bloomington’s professional theater and film company will be bringing back multiple crowd favorites, including The Rocky Horror Picture ShowThe RoomWilly Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Taste-Along, and our Mamma Mia! Sing-Along. Learn more about each screening below!

First up is Constellation’s annual Halloween tradition: an interactive screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) on Saturday, October 26, at 7:00 pm and 11:00 pm at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. Join us 30 minutes prior to each screening for a fabulous pre-show event featuring a costume contest, devirginization ceremony, and more! This film has a long history of audience participation, and at screenings, audiences throw rice, ring bells, yell specific phrases, and are invited to cause general mayhem in the theater! Prop bags with goodies and guides on how to participate in this cult-classic tradition will be available to purchase for $5 with tickets or at the door (while supplies last). The Rocky Horror Picture Show has a history of selling out, so make sure to book tickets in advance!

Next, Constellation is excited to bring back another cult classic, the BEST bad film of all time: The Room (2003), on Friday, February 21 at 7:00 pm at the Waldron Auditorium. Featuring a bonkers plot, endlessly quotable lines, bizarre acting, and some of the most “intense” football action in movie history, The Room is a masterpiece of WTF cinema that demands to be seen with a large group. Before the screening begins, Constellation will host a short pre-show event, including a quote-off and a few other movie-related activities. During the movie, audiences are invited to throw plastic spoons at the screen for priceless moments of audience interaction. Spoon bags are available for a $3 add-on purchase in advance or in the lobby before the show (while supplies last).

Back by popular demand is Constellation’s Taste-Along screening of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) on Saturday, February 22, at 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm at the Waldron Auditorium. Due to last season’s sold-out success, Constellation is presenting two screenings of this family-friendly favorite. Experience your favorite childhood classic like never before – with taste-a-long bags of treats for the whole family. Eat along with the film…when Charlie takes a bite, so do you! Candy is included in the price of admission for both adult and child tickets. Now set for a national tour (that started right here, at Constellation), this is your chance to experience our innovative taste-along experience right here in Bloomington!

Last but not least is the annual Mamma Mia! (2008) Sing-Along on Saturday, July 12 at 7:00pm at the Waldron Auditorium! This smash-hit movie musical, based on the stage show of the same name, is the story of a bride-to-be trying to find her real father. You’ll have a blast singing along to hit songs from the popular 1970s group ABBA. Be sure to dress in your Mamma Mia best because we’re kicking off the screening with a costume contest and finish-that-lyric challenge!

Tickets for all screenings are on sale now through the Constellation box office, online (SeeConstellation.org), over the phone (812.336.9300, M-F 12-5 pm), or in person (122 S Walnut St, W-F 12-5 pm). Prices for each increase at the door, and many of these events have a history of selling out, so we recommend booking tickets in advance. Group discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. To inquire, visit SeeConstellation.org or contact info@seeconstellation.org. A variety of bar and concession options will be available at each film, including film-inspired specialty cocktails!
