INDIANAPOLIS–The Indiana State Fair kicks off today. On Tuesday, August 6th, and Tuesday, August 13th, Hoosiers can enjoy the fair for just $2 admission and register to vote. The Indiana Secretary of State sponsors Two Dollar Tuesdays at this year’s State Fair. Secretary of State Diego Morales is excited to continue registering eligible Hoosiers throughout the state and at the State Fair, as his goal is to increase voter participation.
On Tuesdays, the office will have tents located along State Fair Blvd., where staff will encourage eligible Hoosiers to register to vote. Trained staff and volunteers will be on hand to register new voters and assist voters with checking and updating their registration anywhere in the state. The Secretary of State’s Office will welcome local sports mascots to interact with fairgoers.
The Secretary of State’s Office is staffing a voter registration booth inside the Mercantile Exhibition Hall each day of the State Fair. Additionally, a voter registration tent in Celebration Park near the State Fair Free Stage will be staffed every day of the State Fair to register voters.
“Alongside many Hoosiers, my office has been counting down the days until we can return to the Great Indiana State Fair, an honored Hoosier tradition. As I’ve visited countless county fairs, I’m always excited to spend as much time as possible at the Indiana State Fair. My goal of increasing voter turnout has only grown during this current election year, and I’m looking forward to continuing to work with my team, encouraging eligible Hoosiers to register to vote and get to the polls at this year’s State Fair,” said Diego Morales, Indiana Secretary of State.
Secretary Morales would like to thank all fair organizers for their hard work and local law enforcement officers for keeping Hoosiers safe throughout the Great Indiana State Fair. To mark the official opening of the State Fair, the Secretary of State’s Office held a ribbon cutting this morning. A picture is attached and approved for use.
