BEDFORD—Andrew ‘Coby’ Short will be the keynote speaker at the 108th Annual Bedford Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner.
The event will be held on August 15 at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds Expo Hall.
Short is a Bedford native and retired United States Army colonel. He will deliver “A Perspective on Service, Teamwork, and Partnerships.”
Short is a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point and served 24 years in various roles in the US Army. His first duty station was Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he served as a platoon leader, company executive officer, and assistant operations officer in the 326th Engineer Battalion, 101st Airborne Division. His career included deployments to Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Eastern Europe.
His last mission in the Army was commanding the Pittsburgh District in the US Army Corps of Engineers, where he engaged with senior leaders across federal, state, and local governments and led all construction efforts on the southern Border Wall in 2020.
His military awards include the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star Medal, among other awards and decorations.
For the past two and a half years, he has worked at Eli Lilly & Company as the senior director of employee engagement.
Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the keynote address. The Chamber will present several community and business awards.
