BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested after a warrant was issued for his arrest after a report of a domestic dispute on Saturday, June 29.
Police arrested 36-year-old Allen Milligan on charges of domestic battery, battery causing moderate bodily injury, and domestic battery with a deadly weapon.
Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Travis Atchinson responded to IU Health Bedford Hospital at 7:39 a.m. after a report that a female was being treated for injuries received during a domestic dispute.
The woman suffered several cuts on her body. The woman told police the incident happened at a home on Fort Ritner Road earlier that morning around 2:00 a.m.
The woman was hesitant at first to speak about what happened to her.
The woman told Deputy Atchison that she had been injured by pieces of glass while in an argument with her ex-boyfriend, Allen Milligan.
She told police she had arrived at the residence in the 400 block of Fort Ritner Road on Friday, June 28, and that while there, the two got into a verbal argument. Then, around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, things escalated. The woman had gone into the bathroom to get away from Milligan, and when she shut the door, a mirror fell off and broke. Milligan forced his way into the bathroom, picked up pieces of the glass, and hit her on top of her head multiple times.
She told police she raised both arms in an attempt to cover her head from being cut with the pieces of glass.
Deputy Atchison had several cuts on the top of her head, her right forearm, and both hands.
A friend picked up the woman from the home and drove her to the hospital for treatment.
The woman signed a battery affidavit.
Deputies Callahan and Compton attempted to locate Milligan at the home but he was not there.
Photos were taken, and the report was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, and a warrant was issued for Milligan’s arrest.
