Bloomington Police Department has a new canine

BLOOMINGTON— The Bloomington Police Department has a new canine.

Twix is a 15-month-old Belgian Malinois. He completed three months of training at Shallow Creek Kennels in Pennsylvania. His handler, Sergeant Jordan Hasler, just returned from two weeks of training with him, and they are now on patrol.

He is certified in tracking, apprehension, and drug detection by the National American Police Work Dog Association and will help serve on the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT).

The department now has two full-time police canines on duty.

In November 2023, canine Ike passed away unexpectedly.
