A wanted woman ordered her dogs to attack a Bloomington Police officer

BLOOMINGTON — Three Bloomington Police officers were hospitalized after a woman wanted on drug charges had her dogs attack them.

Bloomington Police Department officers were called to the B-Line trail on Country Club Drive around 2 p.m. on August 2 to help arrest 25-year-old Stacy R. Herrington.

Herrington is facing several charges, including possession of meth, unlawful possession of syringes, battery, and resisting arrest.

Police began tracking Herrington after learning she was wanted on several warrants.

According to a probable cause affidavit, an officer saw Herrington attempting to cross a nearby creek with her two dogs.

Once the officer caught up to Herrington, he tried to grab her arm but slipped. As he was trying to detain Herrington, her two dogs ran up to the officer and began biting his left leg.

Police say Herrington “yelled for the dogs to keep attacking the officer” after the initial bite. She also tried to steal the officer’s radio to prevent him from calling for assistance.

As the officer stood up to get the dogs off him, Herrington reportedly stood up and tried running away along the creek bed.
