Greene County residents might see a higher water bill soon

GREENE CO. – Greene County residents might be seeing higher water bills soon.

Eastern Heights Utilities has proposed a rate increase for its customers.

Eastern Heights Utilities provides water utility services in Greene County and portions of surrounding counties. The not-for-profit utility serves approximately 7,000 residential customers.

Homeowners and business owners could see at least $15 more monthly on their bills.

Eastern Heights has proposed a rate increase to help keep up with operating costs.

Eastern Heights Utilities is seeking a rate increase under Cause No. 46084-U. The utility is seeking the increase through the state’s Small Utility Filing Procedure, which aims to reduce rate case expenses while not reducing the standard of review by the OUCC and IURC. The OUCC is scheduled to file a report with recommendations on September 18.

The utility’s previous rates were approved in April 2021 under Cause No. 45435-U.

All publicly filed documents in Cause No. 46084-U are available from the IURC case file

The IURC has scheduled a public field hearing for September 5, at 6 p.m., in the Bloomfield Middle & High School Cafeteria.
