The Wall that Heals will arrive in Martinsville on Tuesday, August 13 at the Morgan County Fairgrounds

MARTINSVILLE—The Wall That Heals, a traveling Vietnam Wall, will arrive in Martinsville at the Morgan County Fairgrounds on Tuesday, August 13. It will be on exhibit through Sunday, August 18.

The memorial is 75% of the scale of the memorial wall in Washington.  It is 375 feet long and 7 1/5 feet at the tallest panel.

The Wall will be transported on a large semi-trailer, an education center complete with exhibits and big screen television documenting the history of the Wall and the Vietnam War.

The Wall will be escorted from Mooresville down State Road 67 into Martinsville for set up. There will be an opening ceremony and a candlelight ceremony on Friday, August 16, to remember those exposed to Agent Orange.

The exhibit is open 24 hours a day, and admission is free.

More than 150 volunteers will help set up and man the exhibit while in Martinsville. Students from as far as Princeton will view the exhibit.

Medal of Honor Recipient Sammy Davis will be the special guest speaker at the opening ceremony on August 15.

The memorial will be lit at night and will be visible from I-69, so it should be quite a sight.
