JASPER – Two Bloomington residents are behind bars in Dubois County after a Jasper Police officer stopped their vehicle on Thursday night on US 231 and 20th Avenue for speeding.
The driver, 20-year-old Madilyn Stiles, her passenger, 28-year Jarvel Whitefield, and Stiles’s two children were in the car.
Officers could smell the odor of marijuana.
During a search of the car, police found marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, and Xanax.
Police say Stiles was impaired but refused to take a chemical test, so police applied for a search warrant for a blood test. That test showed Stiles was impaired on cannabis, cocaine, and benzodiazepines.
Marijuana and Xanax were found on Whitfield.
He’s charged with trafficking and possession of cocaine, marijuana, a legend drug, and a controlled substance.
Stiles is charged with neglect of a dependent, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangerment, possession of marijuana, and operating a vehicle with a scheduled substance in the blood.
Both Stiles and Whitfield were transported to the Dubois County Jail.
