Teen girl hurt in domestic clash; man taken into custody

BEDFORD – Bedford Police arrested 18-year-old Rayden Taylor on charges of battery resulting in bodily injury and strangulation on Friday, August 9th, after responding to a 911 call at 4:31 a.m. in the 2400 block of K Street.

The dispatcher said they could hear a crying female.

Bedford Police Officers Nick Crulo and Clay Blackburn responded.

Dispatch reported the teen called back and said her ex-boyfriend Rayden C. Taylor had assaulted her.

When police arrived, they found the teen victim bleeding from her head and mouth. She told police she could barely breathe.

An ambulance was requested to the scene.

Taylor had fled the scene on foot. The victim said he was last seen going north. He was wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans.

Other officers arrived to search for Taylor. He was found and detained in the 22nd Street and Mitchell Road area.

The 17-year-old victim told police she couldn’t remember everything, but said Taylor was angry about his phone. She said Taylor had shoved her to the kitchen floor, slapped her in the face, kicked her in the ribs, and choked her. She was unsure if she lost consciousness.

The female had abrasions to her knees, ribs, and left hand and elbow. There was an abrasion on the back of her head and her swollen lips.

Police found blood on the kitchen floor, the back door of the kitchen, and the refrigerator door.

She told police Taylor had chased her through the house into a bathroom. Police did find blood on the floor and bloody rags.

An IU LifeLine ambulance arrived at the scene and transported the female to IU Health Bedford Hospital.

Following detainment, Taylor was transported to the Bedford Police Department and then to jail. Taylor refused to speak to officers about what happened.
