Bedford man killed after two-vehicle accident on John William Boulevard

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Saturday, August 10, on John Williams Boulevard at the intersection of O Street.

The accident was reported at 12:35 p.m.

According to Bedford Officer Jarrett Tedrow, 58-year-old James Stigall, driving a silver Ford Focus, was turning left from the turn lane on John Williams Boulevard to turn north on O Street. At the same time, 41-year-old Jeremy Hall, driving a black Yamaha YZF-R1, was traveling straight in the left lane of westbound John Williams Boulevard.

Stigall told police he was traveling east on John Williams Boulevard when he slowed and entered the turn lane. He said another vehicle stopped in the opposing left turn lane, causing him difficulty seeing oncoming westbound traffic. Stigall told police he made a left turn onto northbound O Street, believing it was safe. He said he had never seen the motorcycle traveling west on John Williams Boulevard.

The motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the Ford Focus. Hall was not wearing a helmet. He suffered severe injuries and was unresponsive. Hall was transported by ambulance to IU Health Bedford Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Stigall consented to a blood draw, and the results are pending.

Police say it has not been determined if speed contributed to the crash.

Police learned the motorcycle had been reported stolen in Bloomington in 2021. They were notified about the accident.

Police also learned Hall’s driver’s license was suspended.

Damages were estimated between $25,001 and $55,000.

Stone City Collision towed both vehicles from the scene.
