CELESTINE—The Celestine Volunteer Fire Department in Dubois County is getting a new fire engine thanks to a $30,000 grant from the Dubois County Community Foundation in conjunction with the Celestine Community Endowment.
Officials say Engine 262 is expected to arrive in late 2025, replacing their current firetruck, which is over 20 years old.
These funds are instrumental in allowing the department to replace the aging apparatus with new apparatus with new features and functions, giving firefighters the upper hand in fighting fires as they become increasingly difficult to fight despite rising apparatus costs.
“We’re proud to support this critical upgrade, which will include features designed to enhance their response capabilities and overall efficiency,” says the charitable organization.
