BLOOMINGTON – Tuesday’s Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market spotlight vendor is Morningside Farms, Melvin Reeves.
Reeves decided around 2007 that he wanted to grow his own food. He was raised with farming and didn’t feel whole without it.
Reeves was also interested in having a relaxing job after retiring. On an acre of garden space and with four greenhouses, he and his wife Karen grow an array of produce year-round, including their popular collards and bok choy.
The Reeves are known for their delicious heirloom tomatoes. They do not apply chemical pesticides, fungicides, or herbicides to their produce.
Tuesday’s market is open from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Switchyard Park, 1601 South Rogers Street.
