Road rage incident on I-465 leads to arrest in shooting

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana State Police Detectives have arrested the man they believe is responsible for shooting an 18-year-old during a road rage encounter last month on I-465.

After a comprehensive investigation, several search warrants related to this case were issued and served on Friday, August 9th, in Indianapolis. Indiana State Police SWAT and ISP Detectives carried out the search warrants. During the searches, three men were arrested; two of the arrests were unrelated to the July 21st road rage shooting.

Latrail L. Ramsey, 19, of Indianapolis, was arrested on the preliminary charge of Aggravated Battery, a level 3 Felony. This charge stems from his alleged involvement in the July 21st road rage shooting on I-465.

Reimos Trimble Jr., 20, of Indianapolis, was arrested for possession of a Glock switch. A Glock switch is an improvised accessory that can transform a semi-automatic handgun into a fully automatic gun.

Gemon Young, 20, of Indianapolis, was located during the search warrants and found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for an unrelated shooting.

While investigating this incident, detectives learned the road rage encounter began when a piece of trash blew out of the back of the victim’s pick-up truck. The suspect and the driver of the pick-up became engaged in road rage, leading to shots being fired.

This investigation is ongoing, and detectives continue searching for other suspects related to this crime.

On July 21, 2024, just before 9:00 p.m., Indiana State Police Dispatchers received information about shots fired from one vehicle towards another on I-465 near the 14-mile marker. Moments later, ISP was notified of a possible gunshot victim at a gas station on 10th Street near I-465.

Responding officers from IMPD connected the gunshot victim with the report of shots fired on I-465, and ISP responded to investigate. The victim was an 18-year-old male who was the driver of a grey pickup truck; the passenger in the truck was not injured. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation by Indiana State Police Detectives determined the victim was driving southbound on I-465 when another driver pulled along side of him and fired several shots into the driver’s door of the truck. The suspect was driving a grey passenger car and fled the scene after the shooting. The shooting victim went to a gas station and called 911 for help. Investigators believe the shooting was a result of a road rage incident.
