Man sentenced to prison after violating the terms of his probation

BEDFORD—Lawrence Superior Court I Judge John M. Plummer III sentenced a Bloomington man to the Indiana Department of Correction after he failed to comply with the terms of his probation.

Jeffrey Crowder

Jeffrey S. Crowder, 48, pled guilty to a Level 6 felony theft charge as part of a negotiated plea agreement. Crowder was sentenced to 910 days in the Indiana Department of Correction, with 545 days of that sentence suspended to unsupervised probation.

After violating his probation terms and conditions, Judge Pummer revoked Crowder’s suspended sentence and sentenced Crowder to 902 days in the Indiana Department of Correction. Crowder was given credit for 40 days served in jail.

“This Defendant was allowed to complete unsupervised probation and failed to do what was expected of him,” said Deputy Prosecutor Sarah Cummings. “He continued to break the law; therefore, this Defendant should not continue to receive the benefit of unsupervised probation, and prison was the appropriate result.”
