BEDFORD— A sign posted on the door to the Hauck House states that the Section 8 waitlist for Hamilton Courts is closed. At the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners meeting, it was confirmed that not only is the waitlist for Hamilton Courts closed, but for all of Section 8.
“There are only 172 vouchers to go around,” said Executive Director Bobbie Ames, referring to the total amount of Section 8 spots available. The board believes it is in the city’s best interest to close the waitlist for the time being to allow some time to catch up on the existing group waiting to get a voucher. The hope is to reopen the waitlist sometime in the first half of 2025.
