BEDFORD – On Tuesday, August 13, a Bedford woman was arrested after she was stopped for drunk driving.
According to Sgt. While on patrol at 11:45 p.m., Bedford Police Sgt. Faheem Bade observed a white Ford Edge traveling north on State Road 37. In a probable cause affidavit, he stated that he witnessed the driver leave the travel lane, go onto the shoulder, and jerk back into the proper lane.
He initiated a traffic stop.
The driver, 47-year-old Carla Conn, smelled of alcohol.
She admitted she was on her phone while driving when she swerved off the road.
When asked if she had been drinking, she admitted she had drunk three shots at her friend’s house.
Conn failed several field sobriety tests. She had a blood alcohol level of 0.146 on a preliminary breath test.
She was detained. She called a male friend to pick up her vehicle.
Conn was transported to IU Health Bedford Hospital for a blood draw. Those results are pending. She was then transported to jail on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, OWI per se, and OWI endangerment.
