MITCHELL—The Christian Women’s Connection from Mitchell’s First Church of God hosted an inside yard sale at their church at 405 N 12th St on Saturday, August 17. The event was a huge success to raise money to support community needs.
Members of the church supplied all of the items, and any leftovers will be donated locally to the Tulip Street Clothing Drive, among others, to be distributed to those in need.
The Christian Women’s Connection is a community outreach and support group that strives to provide for those in need. “We have worked with Hope Resource Center, Bertha’s Mission, Mitchell Manor, and all sorts of people all over the area,” said Sherry Sochia, president of the CWC, about some of the projects the group takes part in. “All proceeds go directly back into the community.”
Hot dogs, sloppy joes, nacho cheese, and refreshments were offered to help support the cause.
The CWC is also rolling out the program “Senior Helping Hands,” a project aimed at providing seniors in the community with essential household items. For information on how to sign up for or donate to the program, call Sherry Sochia at 812-276-9356.
A heartfelt thanks to the Christian Women’s Connection for their efforts in making Lawrence County a better place to live. Events like this indoor yard sale, dedicated to helping those in need, truly make our community special.
