DUBOIS – Bedford North Lawrence got a little lost, both en route to Northeast Dubois and on the courts.
After struggling to find their way to the season-opening match, the Stars struggled once they arrived, suffering a 5-0 loss to the Jeeps during boys high school tennis action on Monday.
Dubois dropped only five games in singles en route to a convincing victory.
“It was a bad loss,” BNL coach Ian Dillman said. “We got lost on the way down and then we couldn’t find a rhythm against these people. They were much better than us with consistency and tennis IQ. They just knew what shots to make and when to hit them.
“With our guys, it was just picking and choosing the wrong shots at the wrong time. We need to slow down and not rush things.”
Carson Beck posted a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Orion Hill at No.1 singles, Drew Schroering stopped Jackson Corey 6-1, 6-2 at No.2, and Elijah Buechler bounced Braxton Fugate 6-1, 6-1 at No.3.
In doubles, Jonah Klem and Caleb Lampert topped Micah Carter and Asher Thompson 6-1, 6-0 at No.1, while Carter Fuhs and Eli Schroering rolled past Neal Patel and Leadon Jones 6-2, 6-2.
The Stars will host Bloomington South in the home opener on Tuesday.
