Memorial ride and auction to benefit Lawrence County Deputy Brenten Trueblood’s daughters

BEDFORD – A Memorial Ride and Auction is scheduled for Saturday, September 21, for Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Brenten Trueblood’s daughters, Madelyn and Makinley Trueblood.

Deputy Trueblood, 25, was killed after crashing his motorcycle on State Road 445 west of I-69 ramp on Saturday, July 27. Officers responded to the accident at 11:10 p.m.

According to Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Camron Frye, the driver, Brenten Trueblood, was traveling east on State Road 445 toward I-69 when he left the roadway for an unknown reason and came to a stop off the southwest portion of State Road 445 and the I-69 southbound ramp.

Trueblood was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, but despite life-saving efforts, he died from his injuries.

All money raised for this event will benefit the girls’ savings account. Donations in memory of Brenten may be made to the Bedford Federal Savings Bank, account ending in 2940, to benefit his children.

The event will begin at the American Legion Gillen Post 33, 515 X Street in Bedford, rain or shine, at 9:00 a.m.

This is a cash-only event.

  • $20 a bike or $25 with a passenger
  • $30 Jeep or vehicle
  • $10 Benefit Ride t-shirts for registered operators who wear their shirts during the ride
  • $20 Benefit Tshirts for all others

Breakfast will be offered.

Dick Dunlap will do a blessing for bikes at 10:40 a.m. Kickstands up at 11:00 a.m.

The ride will end at the Bedford Boat and Sportsman Club shelter house at 3916 Pumphouse Road in Bedford.

Big Daddy’s BBQ will offer a meal. There will be a silent and live auction.

Jeff Arthur will be performing to close out the event.
