BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested after Bedford Police officers responded to a report of a fight at Buffalo Wings & Rings on John Williams Boulevard on Monday, August 19.
Bedford Police Sgt. Toby Gerkin spoke to a male witness who reported he was driving by and saw 26-year-old Jonathan Stone on top of a male, hitting him.
Police spoke to the male victim and noticed he had facial injuries, including lacerations and swelling. Police say his clothing was soiled from being on the ground.
The male victim told police he was married to Stone’s ex-girlfriend. During a custody exchange, the woman and Stone had argued earlier that morning. The male victim said he had texted Stone and asked to meet him to work out the issue. The victim works at Buffalo Wings & Rings. He said when he got out of his vehicle, Stone approached him and began throwing punches and eventually took him to the ground and continued to punch him. The male victim told police he didn’t throw any punches or say anything to antagonize Stone.
When asked if he wanted to file charges, the male victim was hesitant but said he would sign a battery affidavit.
Stone was arrested on charges of battery resulting in bodily injury and public intoxication.
Stone admitted to texting the male victim, and they agreed to meet and “work things out.”
Stone said when he saw the male exit his vehicle, he began walking toward him with his hands up and then began punching him. Stone said he took the text messages as the male wanted to fight.
Stone said the victim never threw a punch.
An IU LifeLine ambulance responded to treat the victim. He needed possible stitches but refused to be transported to the hospital, saying he would go on his own.
