SEYMOUR – Bedford North Lawrence swept to a pair of victories in the Seymour Invitational during cross country action on Thursday.

The Stars won the six-team girls meet with 40 points, followed by Seymour (62) and Charlestown (81). In the boys meet, BNL won the title with 43 points, followed by Brownstown (58) and Seymour (59).

BNL’s Paige Voigtschild was the individual champion in the girls race, crossing the line in 20:22.83.

“I was really excited about how our whole team did,” Voigtschild said. “And it was really fun watching everyone else come in right behind me.”

The other top scorers for BNL included Claire Voigtschild (third overall in 21:55.62), Elise Williams (10th in 22:51.47), Madison Chandler (12th in 23:01.39) and Jabrie Sullivan (14th in 23:11.65).

“I think that our team competed really well together tonight,” Chandler said. “We kept each other in eyes reach and that helped us push each other. It was a good day to race.”

In the boys meet, Jonah Bailey paced the Stars, finishing third in 17:18.88.

“ I thought we ran pretty good as a team,” Bailey said. “I worked my way up the field and we ran good times. And we won.”

BNL had more quality runs with Tucker Inman (fourth in 17:39.28), Nick Lindley (fifth in 17:43.24), Alex Nicholson (11th in 18:17.25) and Sam Strauser (20th in 19:17.12).

“The race was much better as a team,” Inman said. “Nick and I worked well together and we executed the plan today.”

Brownstown’s Chance Ratliff was the boys winner in 16:14.48.

“I am pleased with how we raced,” BNL coach Nick Boyd said. “We had a game plan all week coming into this meet, and we executed it well. This was a team win. It certainly bodes well for our confidence going into the Scott Hiles next week. We had a strong performance across the board and the team effort was apparent.”

BNL will host the Scott Hiles Invitational on Monday.
