City of Bloomington Volunteer Network will host volunteer fair during Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market

BLOOMINGTON – The City of Bloomington Volunteer Network will host the 2024 City of Bloomington Volunteer Fair at Fernandez Plaza in front of City Hall on Saturday, August 24th, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., with a rain date set for Saturday, August 31.

The City of Bloomington Volunteer Fair will occur with the Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market, which consistently brings a large and diverse group of shoppers together in downtown Bloomington.

Music at the Market

Leading off our jazz double-header is the returning group Jony P Trio, led by French-Canadian musician Jony Perron.

JonyP Trio

They are comprised of:

Jony Perron – Drums
Kurt Baer
– Saxophone
Steve Mascari
 – Bass

Boasting a modern, groovy approach to old Jazz standards and spiced with Latin flavors, JonyP performs this Saturday at 9:30 a.m. on the BCFM Circular Stage.

Double Standards

Following the JonyP Trio at 11:15 a.m., Market-goers will be favored by the melodic-jazz sounds of Double Standards. Comprised of Rickie Maxwell (vocals & bass) and Dena Elsaffar (violin), they’ll be performing classic standards and arrangements of popular hits on the BCFM Circular Stage.

Mayor’s Team at the Table

This community outreach program invites Market-goers to engage with the mayor and various department heads from the City of Bloomington government.

Margie Rice

This Saturday, Margie Rice, Corporation Counsel for the City of Bloomington, will greet the public at the Farmers’ Market between 10 a.m. and Noon.
