BEDFORD – The North Lawrence Career Center is partnering with Fenix Beauty School to offer cosmetology and barbering programs to high school students in the region.
The program is open to students from Mitchell, Orleans, Shoals, Brownstown, Medora, and Bedford North Lawrence and online and homeschooled students. Currently, 13 students are enrolled in the cosmetology program, while one is pursuing a barbering degree.
Upon completing the two-year program, students will have fulfilled the required 1,500 hours of training and be eligible to take the state exam to become licensed cosmetologists or barbers.
The school is still in the process of opening and will not be accepting clients until students have completed at least 250 hours of training to master the fundamentals. An open house and additional public relations efforts are planned for the future.
The partnership between North Lawrence Career Center and Fenix Beauty School provides students a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the cosmetology and barbering industries while earning high school credits.
