SELLERSBURG — Today, Secretary of State Diego Morales returned to his hometown of Sellersburg to speak at a highly anticipated community event. The Sellersburg Celebrates Community Luncheon is an honored tradition that coincides with the annual Sellersburg Celebrates Festival.
The Sellersburg Celebrates Community Luncheon draws a crowd of community members and business leaders. The event marks a meaningful occasion as Secretary Morales connects with the community that shaped his early life and career.
“Returning to my hometown is more than just a visit- it’s a journey back to the roots that have grounded me throughout my life. The values, the people, and the spirit of the community have shaped who I am and continue to inspire my work every day. Sellersburg is and will always be such a special place. Years ago, Sellersburg welcomed me and my family. Instantly, I learned the true meaning of Hoosier Hospitality. As I’ve traveled throughout the state, country, and world, I repeatedly bring up the best small town in America: Sellersburg, Indiana, and each time, I’m filled with overwhelming pride. It is an honor to come back and give back to the place that gave me so much. I have so much love for Sellersburg,” said Diego Morales, Indiana Secretary of State.
“We were excited to have Diego speak at our Sellersburg Celebrates luncheon. Being a ‘hometown boy’ and now representing Sellersburg in the Statehouse as the Secretary of State, he provided an interesting view of our town. I’ve been blessed to know him personally through our church, and it made for an even more inspiring afternoon to listen to him share his story and his view of the endless potential that can be achieved when a community comes together. Diego continues to make Sellersburg proud,” said Sandy Vest, Sellersburg Celebrates Committee Member.
Sellersburg Celebrates kicked off on Thursday and lasts through Saturday. The festival started more than 30 years ago to honor the town’s centennial.
