Downtown abuzz with activities Oct. 5: Bedford Half-Marathon/5K, Honey Harvest Festival, Farmers Market lead events

BEDFORD— Bedford Revitalization, Inc. (BRI) proudly announces the upcoming Honey Harvest Festival, a unique event dedicated to promoting pollinators, celebrating the harvest season, highlighting local shopping, and supporting Bedford’s vibrant community.

The festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Harp Commons in Historic Downtown Bedford.

The event will draw folks interested in the local honey bee market, beekeeping, and pollinators.

The event dovetails nicely with both the 8 a.m. Limestone Capital Half-Marathon and 5K and 8 a.m.—12 p.m. Bedford Farmers Market.

Event Highlights:

The Honey Harvest Festival scheduled events include Bedford Beekeepers honey tasting, candle-
making, beekeeping presentations, learning hives, free flavored honey samples, and market items, including local honey and beeswax candle sales.

The Bedford Beekeepers, Master Gardeners, Hoosier National Forest, and Lawrence County Soil & Water Conservation staff will all be on hand to answer questions and discuss supporting pollinators.

The child activity will feature “Learning about Bees and Pollinators” facts and fun.

BRI, the local Main Street Organization, is leading this initiative to incorporate more community-focused events in Bedford’s downtown green space, which will increase tourism and showcase the city’s charm.

Events like the Honey Harvest Festival significantly impact downtown businesses, drawing in residents and visitors to explore, shop, and enjoy everything Bedford offers.

The event is partially funded through a grant by Lawrence County Tourism.
