MITCHELL – A Mitchell man was arrested after a state trooper found him passed out in his truck with a bottle of booze in his lap.
On Wednesday, August 21, at 1:59 p.m., Indiana State Police Trooper B. Burris was traveling on Sherwood Road in Mitchell when he found a red 2004 Dodge Ram stopped in the roadway facing west.
The trooper found 55-year-old William Moore of Mitchell asleep with his foot on the brake. An open bottle of Smirnoff vodka was in his lap.
Moore could not complete any field sobriety test due to his level of confusion, abusive attitude, and poor balance.
Trooper Burris secured a search warrant for a blood draw, which Lawrence County Superior II Judge Robert Cline signed. He was taken to jail after submitting to a blood test for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
