Obituary: Donna Fish

December 12, 1931 – August 23, 2024

Donna L. Fish, 92, of Bedford, passed away at 3:03 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford.

Donna was born in Bedford on December 12, 1931, to Louie Fish and Edna (Stevens) Fish. She graduated from Shawswick High School in 1949. She was a lifetime member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church and a manager of the Oolitic Branch of Bedford National Bank for over 30 years.

Donna Fish was indeed one of a kind. She loved her family, friends, and church with all her heart. She enjoyed traveling, often telling us she’s been everywhere, seen everything, and couldn’t possibly pick a favorite. She was an avid card player and regularly met with her card club for over 50 years. She was a fantastic family chef. Her recipes have been passed down through the years, but she tended to keep the REAL recipe in her head (if you know, you know). We enjoyed calling her for tips when ours, inevitably, didn’t turn out quite like hers. Donna played many roles for the many people who loved her. She was a loyal friend and companion, a daughter, a sister, and our beloved “Aunt Donna.” In addition to being a loving aunt, she selflessly became a mom and Nana to several of us when we needed her most. As the
matriarch, she held our family together for many years and will be dearly missed by all.

Surviving to cherish the memory of Donna is one nephew, Kerry Dalton; two nieces, Susan (Chris) Burnett, and Dona Parham; thirteen great nieces and nephews; twelve great great nieces and nephews; three great great great nieces and nephews; and her precious cat, Sugar.

Donna is preceded by her parents, long-time companion Kenny Johnson; two sisters, Evelyn Dalton and Patricia Parham; niece, Sheron Sons; nephews, Louie and Dennis Dalton; niece, Tami Hargesheimer; and one great niece, Beth Ann Staley.

A funeral service for Donna will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, with Pastor Jeff Hudelson officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Bedford. Visiting hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to the time of service on Wednesday, August 28th, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
