Reps. Bartels, May: Applications now open for 2025 Statehouse internships

STATEHOUSE – Applications to intern with Indiana House Republicans for the 2025 legislative session are now open, according to State Reps. Stephen Bartels (R-Eckerty) and Chris May (R-Bedford). 

Bartels said the Indiana House of Representatives offers a spring semester internship at the Statehouse in Indianapolis during the legislative session, starting in January and concluding in April. House Interns earn $900 biweekly and work full-time, Monday through Friday.

Bartels emphasized the immense value of the Statehouse internship, describing it as a gateway to invaluable real-world experience. He underlined that such an opportunity is not just a line on a resume but a significant step towards a prosperous professional career.

May said internships are open to college students and recent graduates of all majors. Interns get free parking, career and professional development assistance, enrollment access to an Indiana government class, and opportunities to earn academic credits through their college or university.

May reiterated that the Statehouse internship program is open to students from all academic backgrounds. He highlighted that the program is designed to enhance a wide range of skills, from communication to critical thinking, making it an inclusive and enriching experience for all applicants.

Interns can also apply for a competitive $3,000 scholarship, awarded based on academic performance and contribution to the internship program, to use toward undergraduate and graduate expenses.
