INDIANAPOLIS— Air Quality Action Day (AQADs) forecasts in parts of Indiana have been extended through tomorrow (Aug. 28).
On Wednesday, Aug. 28, ozone levels are expected to remain in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range (Orange) in the following areas:
- Southeast Indiana, including Brownstown, Corydon, Jeffersonville, Madison, New Albany, Salem, Versailles, and all other cities within the area.
- Southwest Indiana, including Bedford, Bloomfield, Evansville, Huntingburg, Mount Vernon, Paoli, Princeton, Rockport, Tell City, Vincennes, and all other cities.
Yesterday, IDEM forecast AQADs in multiple regions. In addition to Southeast and Southwest Indiana, ozone levels are expected to remain in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range (Orange) through today, Aug. 27, in the following regions:
- Northwest Indiana, including Crown Point, Gary, Hammond, Kentland, LaPorte, Michigan City, Portage, Rensselaer, Valparaiso, and all other cities within the area.
- North Central Indiana, including Elkhart, Goshen, Knox, Logansport, Plymouth, Peru, South Bend, Warsaw, Winamac, and all other cities within the area.
A cold front working its way south toward the central part of the state is not expected to reach the Ohio River Valley on Wednesday. Therefore, conditions leading to elevated ozone levels are expected to remain in Southern Indiana through tomorrow.
