Obituary: Colton Jamison Shelton-Vincent (Chapman)

May 8, 2000 – August 26, 2024

Colton Jamison Shelton-Vincent (Chapman) was born May 8, 2000, at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and then transported to Riley Hospital, where he spent most of his first two years. He left this earth at his residence in Bedford on August 26, 2024.

Colton is survived by his brother, Taylor Shelton-Vincent (Meaghan Black and children); his niece, Raylan; nephew, Weston; his grandparents and guardians, Dusty and Jamie (Stevens) Chapman; his uncle, Byron (Monica) Shelton; his great-grandmother, Portia Chapman; and many great uncles, aunts, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Misti Shelton Chapman Fitzgerald, and great-grandparents, Bill Chapman and James and Virginia Stevens.

Colton was the bright star in our lives. He loved camping at Spring Mill State Park and checking out all the sites in his wheelchair with his grandfather (grumpy old man) and grandmother (Mama). He loved telling jokes, playing on his iPad, and watching movies. He would tell his grandmother it was time to write a paper on WB or CW. He had the biggest heart and loved everyone unconditionally. His world revolved around his grandparents and theirs. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the Ferguson- Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel. A private burial will be held.

The family would like to thank his cardiologists, doctors, and nurses for their excellent care of Colton over the past twenty-four years.

Instead of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Colton’s memory to the Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
