SWITZERLAND CO. – Secretary of State Diego Morales continues his visits to several counties by hand-delivering local election improvement grants.
He made stops in Switzerland County, Ohio County, Ripley County, and Shelby County, with more stops planned. Since the beginning of the year, Secretary Morales has delivered grant checks to more than 75 Indiana counties for local election security, safety, and voter outreach projects.
The counties receive grant dollars from the Federal Help America Vote Act for local election improvement and security efforts. This new round of statewide grants is valued at approximately $1 million. Previous funding has been used for various improvements, such as voter outreach efforts, additional signage, security upgrades, etc. Many counties implemented election improvements for the Primary Election.
“We started the day before sunrise, heading to southeastern Indiana. By delivering these election improvement grants to counties across our state, we are investing in the tools and resources necessary to enhance the integrity and efficiency of our elections. I’m so excited to hand deliver these funds directly to our local counties to help ensure safe and secure elections for the Hoosier state,” said Diego Morales, Indiana Secretary of State.
Secretary Morales visited with county clerks and their teams in Switzerland, Ohio, Ripley, and Shelby Counties to thank them and offer assistance for the upcoming General Election.
Secretary Morales strongly encourages every eligible Hoosier to register to vote before the upcoming October 7th registration deadline and to vote in the November 5th General Election.
