BEDFORD—Bedford Police Department Sgt. Max Uebelhoer arrested a Bedford man after he noticed suspicious activity by those in a vehicle in front of him.
Sgt. Uebelhoer was on patrol on Sunday, August 25, at 12:55 a.m., on US 50 East, when he noticed a gray Toyota Sienna traveling in front of him. The vehicle turned on Tunnelton Road, and the officer followed. The driver then turned into Brookside Park. The officer continued on Tunnelton Road but decided to turn around and check on the vehicle. He found it parked at the entrance of Otis Park. The park was closed.
Two females and 30-year-old Christopher Moen were found standing outside of the vehicle. The female owner of the vehicle denied permission to search the car.
Sgt. Feheem Bade arrived with canine Zazu, who alerted police to drugs inside the car. The officers were informed that there was a marijuana grinder and some clean syringes in the vehicle.
Police conducted a thorough search of the vehicle, uncovering a grinder, a plastic container containing marijuana cigarettes, two bags of unused syringes in the glovebox, a glass smoking device in the trunk, and more syringes and smoking devices in a toolbox and suitcase. One of the smoking devices tested positive for marijuana, and the other for meth.
One of the women admitted to being aware of the grinder and the unused syringes, while the other woman claimed the drug paraphernalia found in her bag was hers. Their cooperation was instrumental in the investigation.
Moen confessed that the drugs were his, and he had concealed two syringes in his shorts when he saw the police.
The women were released, and Moen was transported to jail on charges of possession of meth and marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of a syringe.
