BEDFORD—The Lawrence County Council had a difference of opinion on the Prosecutors Office’s hiring and usage of attorney Justin Grant. They believed there was a conflict of interest as Grant operates a law firm in Bedford and was hired as a part-time prosecutor by the Prosecutors Office. An investigation was launched to uncover any potential wrongdoing by prosecutor Sam Arp.
The investigation revealed that Arp acted within the law and committed no derogatory acts, and it was, therefore, closed. He addressed the County Council at their meeting on Tuesday, August 27, and expressed his desire to “clear the air and move on.” He then asked the council if there was anything to discuss or any questions they had for him, to which he got no reply.
