Wawa granted special exemption permit by Bedford Zoning Board; convenience store gets the green light

BEDFORDBedford is getting a new convenience store, which could be a game changer for the area. Offering stellar customer service and top-notch food selection, Wawa will be a welcome addition to the northwest section of Bedford. Gas and premium food and beverages will now be available at the corner of State Road 37 and 5th Street, serving the area on a scale not seen before.

The parcel of land on which the Wawa store will be located is zoned a B-3 Planned Business District, and a special exemption permit is required to open a gas station there. Conor O’Leary gave an impressive presentation on behalf of Blue Peninsula to the Bedford Zoning Board, outlining Wawa’s goals to invest in the area and the benefits the store will bring to the community.

After the presentation, the board made and seconded a motion to vote on the exemption permit. The vote was unanimous in granting the permit. Wawa now has the proper approvals from the city to begin work at the site, which will commence in the coming months.
