Stars pull away for 5-2 win over Barr-Reeve

MONTGOMERY – Bedford North Lawrence conquered Barr-Reeve 5-2 during boys high school soccer action on Saturday.

The Stars (3-2) scored three second-half goals (from J.D. Miskuf, Adriano Sullivan and Hiram Mullis) to pull away.

“It was a physical game,” BNL coach Ryan Otis said. “They put an early goal on us and that gave them confidence. We were in a dog fight then. We didn’t play our cleanest game, but we kept pushing and fought back for the W. Proud of the kids for fighting through adversity.”

The Vikings struck four minutes into the first half on Landon Gallagher’s goal. BNL answered with shots from Daniel Loudin-Magnuson (off a Sullivan assist) with 23:48 gone in first half, followed by Noah Childers (from a Miskuf assist) at 29:43.

The Stars (who owned a 15-5 advantage in shots) took off with a goal from Miskuf (with a Manual Morales assist) to begin the second half. Barr-Reeve answered on a Gallagher penalty kick, but Sullivan dribbled through traffic for a goal at 10:35, and Mullis capped the scoring on a free kick at 35:25.

“Hiram played a great game,” Otis said. “He had several breakaway stops for us on the back line. We need to keep working on cleaner play, crisper passes and better first touches.”

BNL will visit New Albany on Thursday.
