MITCHELL – Lawrence County authorities have charged Ronnie Frost, 54, with domestic battery following an incident that allegedly occurred on June 16, 2024, at a residence in Mitchell.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Christian James, the charges stem from a report by Frost’s wife on June 20, 2024.
She told investigators that an argument over text messages escalated into physical violence. She alleges that Frost struck her multiple times, including punches to her arm and mouth. The affidavit notes that officers observed bruising on the woman’s arm consistent with her account.
The incident reportedly took place in the presence of two minors: the woman’s teenage son and Frost’s young grandson, of whom he has custody.
“Domestic violence cases are always treated with the utmost seriousness,” said a spokesperson for the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office. “Our primary concerns are the safety of the alleged victim and the welfare of the children involved.”
The Department of Child Services has been notified and is following up on the case to ensure the well-being of the minors present during the alleged incident.
The woman was provided with information about local domestic violence support services, including Hoosier Hills PACT, a non-profit organization offering assistance to victims of domestic abuse.
Attempts by law enforcement to contact Frost for his statement have been unsuccessful. The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, and a warrant was issued for Frost’s arrest on charges of domestic battery..
