At approximately 5:55 p.m., Bedford Police were dispatched to the IGA parking lot at 510 N Street in response to a report of a physical altercation. Dispatch informed officers that a female in a white truck had been striking her vehicle’s door against another car and had subsequently gone into the store.

Upon arrival, Officer J. Landon Jones contacted the victim, who had been driving a black Ford Escape. The victim, accompanied by her mother, reported that a white truck had been parked too close to her vehicle. After parking her car, the victim said a woman from the white truck exited and began yelling at her before striking her car with the truck’s door. The woman, later identified as Chasity M. Turpen, entered the store with a male companion.

The victim and her mother provided descriptions of Turpen, who was later seen leaving the store with a male. Officer Jones identified Turpen, recognizing her from previous interactions. Captain Emmons, who was on the scene, observed that Turpen displayed signs of intoxication, including glassy eyes, slurred speech, and an unsteady demeanor. A Preliminary Breath Test (PBT) recorded a blood alcohol content of 0.098%.

Turpen was informed of her Miranda Rights and was questioned about the incident. She initially denied driving the truck or causing any damage. Despite her claims, evidence of the damaged vehicle and camera footage supported the allegations.

Turpen was arrested and transported to the Bedford Police Department for processing and then to jail.
