Fisher-Price recalling dumbbell toys due to potential choking hazard

INDIANA – Fisher-Price has issued a recall for dumbbell toys due to a potential choking hazard. The affected toys were part of the Fisher-Price Baby Biceps Gift Set and were sold in the United States and Canada.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall. The company discovered that the gray caps on the dumbbell toys could detach, posing a choking risk to infants. Fisher-Price advises parents to remove the recalled toys from their children immediately.

The impacted dumbbell toys were sold between April 2020 and August 2024 as part of the Baby Biceps Gift Set, recommended for children three months and older. The toys feature a plastic gray bar and red and orange plastic “weights” with gray caps. The model number GJD49 can be found on the back of the kettlebell toy in the gift set.

The recall applies to approximately 366,200 units sold in the U.S. and 37,850 units sold in Canada. The toys were manufactured in China and Vietnam and sold at retailers and online stores for about $18.

Although there have been seven reports of the gray caps separating from the toys, no injuries have been reported.
