Juvenile detained following airsoft gun incident

BEDFORD – On Labor Day, September 2, Bedford Police responded to a call in the 1000 block of O Street at approximately 6:38 p.m. The incident involved four juvenile males and an airsoft pistol.

Upon arrival, officers found a young boy with visible injuries: two red welts on his right arm and one on his left middle finger. The victim was shot at by two other boys whose names he didn’t know. The victim and his companion described the suspects and the weapon to the police.

The injured boy’s father filed a battery report and requested charges against the perpetrators.

Following a search, officers located two boys matching the descriptions in a yard on the 1000 block of M Street. During questioning, one of the suspects, aged 10, retrieved the airsoft pistol from inside the residence. He claimed the victim had asked to be shot.

The 10-year-old was subsequently detained and taken to the Bedford Police Department. After consultation with juvenile probation, authorities released the boy to his father’s custody. The young suspect is scheduled to appear in juvenile court on September 18 at 9:00 a.m.
