SPENCER – Owen Valley converted a first-half penalty kick to clip Bedford North Lawrence 1-0 during girls high school soccer action on Tuesday.
Olivia Brinkmeier knocked home the penalty kick (after the Stars were whistled for a handball in the box) midway through the first half to give the Patriots (3-3) all the offense they would need.
“We controlled the second half of the game and they did everything they could to defend our shots on goal,” BNL coach Bret Roberts said. “We fired shot after shot at them but were unlucky in multiple ways.
“We fought hard the whole game and had many offensive attacks on their goal, but just couldn’t get one in the back of the net.”
BNL (0-5) will host Bloomfield on Thursday.
