BEDFORD – Bedford North Lawrence, after losing its poll position, restarted its engines.
The Stars, who dropped down to the honorable mention section in the latest state poll following a forgettable finish in the Hall of Fame Classic, went back to work on the back nine at Otis Park on Tuesday afternoon, posting wins over Seymour and West Washington.
BNL, with Kinleigh Root earning medalist honors, carded a team total of 168, followed by the Owls (203) and Senators (264).
Root fired a 4-over 39 that featured a birdie on the 11th hole, and Sammie Nusbaum added a 41. Emma Endris (43) and Ellie Horton (45) capped the scoring for the Stars.
“Not our best night, but we got the job done,” BNL coach Kori Johnston said. “We’re still battling some swings right now and scores are reflecting it. Truthfully though, I believe these are the rounds that build character.
“This is the time to learn how to recover and learn how to grind, which will help us in the long run. I have no doubt we’ll get it together and be back to our normal swings soon. I’m proud of Root for battling and finishing with a 39. I’m also thrilled with Kadynn (Canada) and her play this season. She posted another PR tonight (44) and continues to show improvement in every aspect of her game.”
BNL will face Jasper on Sept 10.
