Two were arrested on drug charges after police responded to a report of a suspicious truck

HELTONVILLE – On Tuesday, September 3, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Harrison Fleetwood and Sgt. Whitney Daugherty-Anderson responded to a report of a suspicious truck parked in a driveway on the 1700 block of Dutch Ridge Road. The property owner had informed authorities that no vehicles should be on the premises.

Upon arrival, officers noticed signs of possible criminal activity and found that the truck’s driver, John Rogers, 32, from Heltonville, had a suspended license. The male passenger initially provided a false name but was later identified as Michael Stone, 36, also from Heltonville. Police learned Stone was wanted on a Monroe County warrant.

Police searched the truck and found Rogers with meth, a 9mm handgun, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and hypodermic syringes. Stone also had a syringe.

Rogers is facing charges of possession of meth with a firearm, possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while his driver’s license was suspended with a prior conviction.

Stone was detained on the warrant and new charges of identity deception and unlawful possession of a syringe.

Both are being held in the Lawrence County Jail.
