RAMSEY – Bedford North Lawrence finished third during girls cross country action in the 57th annual North Harrison Invitational on Thursday.
The Stars totaled 98 points in the 12-team field. Jasper won the event with 39 points, followed by Corydon (66).
Paige Voigtschild paced BNL, finishing third in 20:36.48. Francesca Orozco was 23rd in 23:36.76, and Elise Williams was 24th in 23:46.75.
“This was a good meet for us,” BNL co-coach Amy Greenan said. “Corydon and Jasper both have really strong teams again this year. We focused on keeping those black jerseys in our line of sight and worked on reeling them in where we could. The heat was a bit of a challenge, but these girls are tough and handled it pretty well.”
Claire Voigtschld was 29th (23:56.66) and Madison Chandler 31st (24:20.72) to complete BNL’s team scoring.
“I enjoy this race,” Orozco said. “I really liked running as a pack with Jabrie (Sullivan) and Madison, then picking it up in the last part to chase Elise and Claire. I feel like competing and pushing each other makes us a better team.”
Jasper’s Monica Lorey was the individual winner in 20:05.72.
BNL will compete in the Columbus North Classic on Saturday.
