WILLIAMS – In a recent incident that highlights ongoing tensions in a Williams neighborhood, Brandie Morris, 39, has been charged with battery following an altercation with her neighbor.
The Lawrence County Police Department responded to a call on June 22, 2024, when a 25-year-old woman reported being assaulted by Morris. According to the probable cause affidavit filed by Officer Christian James, the incident occurred in the 100 block of Ridge Road in Williams.
The woman alleged that Morris approached her vehicle, where she was sitting with a friend and several children and began yelling. The situation escalated when Morris allegedly struck the woman multiple times in the arm, neck, and face. she claims she was hit “seven to ten times” before Morris left the scene.
The police report notes the woman had visible swelling and a small abrasion on her left cheek when officers arrived. Photographs of the injuries were taken as evidence.
Two adult witnesses and four children, ages 2 to 11, were present during the altercation. The incident has prompted the victim to relocate with her children temporarily due to safety concerns.
When questioned by police on June 26, Morris denied the allegations, stating that the encounter was merely a verbal argument at a nearby intersection. She maintains that no physical contact occurred.
Officer James noted in his report that both parties have a history of disputes and have made allegations of drug issues against each other.
The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, and a warrant was issued for Morris’ arrest on a charge of domestic battery causing bodily injury.
